Description: The Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania is a museum and research facility dedicated to preserving and presenting regional history in ways that engage, entertain, and inspire a large and diverse audience while offering connections to the past, understanding in the present, and guidance for the future.In addition, Meadowcroft Museum of Rural Life, a site of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania, preserves the history of life on the land in Western Pennsylvania over the past 16,000 years. The 200 acre outdoor museum includes one of the oldest archaeological sites in North America and a recreated nineteenth century village.
